How to Remove Frozen Endings from Videos

Recordings can end with several seconds of an unchanged frame. Detecting and trimming those frozen tails manually becomes repetitive across a batch.

The repetitive part

Screen recordings and captured demos may continue after visible motion has stopped. Finding the final sustained still frame in every file takes repeated scrubbing and trimming.

When batch processing helps

Still Trim is useful when frozen tails follow a consistent recording pattern. It detects the latest sustained freeze and removes the remaining ending automatically.

Ways to handle the job

Scrub and trim each recording

Manual review works for one file, but locating the freeze point and setting a separate end trim across a folder takes time.

Use a fixed end trim

Removing the same number of seconds is simple, but it can cut valid motion or leave frozen footage when recording lengths vary.

Use BlinkClip visually

BlinkClip analyzes each selected video for its latest sustained freeze, then trims the remaining tail using one shared detection setup.

Step by step

  1. Select the videos

Drag videos into BlinkClip or use Select Videos to choose the files that need the same change.

  2. Choose Still Trim

Select Still Trim and set the minimum freeze duration and detection sensitivity.

  3. Choose no-freeze behavior

Decide how BlinkClip should handle a file when no sustained frozen ending is found.

  4. Review the batch

Confirm the selected files, start processing, and wait for BlinkClip to finish the repeated job.

  5. Check the results

Open the processed files in Finder and review representative outputs before replacing or sharing originals.

Useful checks

  • Test recordings with and without frozen endings.
  • Use a sustained duration that ignores brief pauses.
  • Review detection results before replacing source recordings.

Common questions

Is Still Trim the same as removing silence?

No. Still Trim looks for a sustained unchanged video frame near the end; it does not detect silence.

What happens when no frozen ending is found?

Use the action setting to choose the appropriate no-freeze behavior, then review the batch results.
